Lighthouse Title Group Hits the Hot 500

Bob Wuerfel, Jeff Beyer, and Reneé Rycenga have come a long way since Lighthouse Title Group, based in Holland, Michigan, was founded in April of 2001. In fact, they were recognized as one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s Hot 500. Out of the 95,000 businesses originally considered for this distinction, only 500 were named the year's fastest-growing small businesses. Not only that, but Lighthouse Title Group was the ONLY title agency on the Hot 500 list.
Just how did this remarkable team achieve this accomplishment, given the current real estate market? According to Bob Wuerfel, President of Lighthouse Title, a collaborative and creative approach keeps his sales team in the forefront of the market. “Our sales team meets monthly to share what is going on in their respective markets. Also, we have an outside marketing consultant that comes in to work with the sales team to inject new ideas and ways to market that are very effective.”
Bob also shared that Lighthouse’s success comes from their culture and an attitude that welcomes change—they encourage their team to be leaders, not followers. The sales team meets new prospects every day to keep opportunities rolling in, while their internal operations like production and closing continue to “wow” customers with their skill and professionalism. They use the well-oiled machine they’ve cultivated to win over prospects and turn them into customers. Also, they are always looking for ways to lower basic costs like data lines, copiers, and office supplies.
